Short story: "SINIGANG"
Answer the following questions. (For these questions, no need to answer in 5 sentences).
1. Where did the story happen?
- The story happened/took place at Liza's house in the kitchen while she and her aunt, Tita Loleng, were cooking Sinigang.
2. Who are the characters in the story?
- The protagonist in the story is Liza herself. The antagonist is her father who happens to have an affair with Sylvia. Other characters are Tita Loleng, Meg (her younger sister), Liza's mom, and Lem (Sylvia's son with her father).
3. What do you think led to the emotional separation of Liza from her father?
- That feeling happened because of the secret which Liza and her sister found out later on. Them knowing their father had an affair with Sylvia and them having a son stained Liza's relationship with her father.
4. What was the most interesting part of the story?
- I personally think that it is when their mom is cooking beside them where she finally told them the secret that their father has a son with another woman (Sylvia). This part tainted Liza's attachment to her dad.
5. What was the story about?
- The story was all about a girl's life which changed due to some unfolding truths she and her sister found out. That "unfolding truth" was their father having an affair with Sylvia which led to them having a son, Lem. In the story, Liza's way of reacting and forgiving what her father has done to their family was displayed specifically during the funeral of her stepbrother, Lim.
6. Who narrated the story?
- Liza narrated her own story.
