21st Century Literature E-Portfolio

In what ways can you as a Filipino reader be affected by such works  (short stories in Tagalog) that endeavor to open the minds of people on  socio-political and moral issues confronting the country?          - These pieces make my mind and my heart face the reality. Such works aim to bring awareness to people that our country is currently facing several issues in a not-so-common way. Bringing awareness means giving new information and knowledge which can help us clarify our stands and opinions about these issues. It is that important for the people to be familiar and open on this matter as this country belongs to them, the country's citizens. When we know what is right and what is wrong, we can solve these issues because, for me, the public is more powerful than their leader. 

 Give 1 Filipino literature that you like. Give a short description of what it is about. Why do you like it?          - I don't read literary works that often and the one that I like is Noli Me Tangere. It is the work of our national hero, Jose Rizal. It describes the Spanish Colonization here in our country and how the Spanish treated Filipinos at that time. It also has several twists and symbolism on it like mystery and romance and true to life events which caught the attention of many. I like it because the story's setting was way before and that before is really different from what the Philippines is today. It showed some parts of Philippine history which is really interesting. 

           This is Itaewon Class, a South Korean Webtoon. I like this a lot because it shows how everybody can stand up from a defeat/loss. In this piece, the main character started his business from the bottom, with a small amount of money, hard work, and perseverance with him, he was able to slowly obtain the success of his business. The main character's life since he was young was really tough and unfair but despite that, he is really patient and waited for the right time to take his revenge in a good and proper way. It only shows that in life, there will always be failures and what you need to do is to stand up from every defeat and learn from it as these lessons can help you succeed in your future life.

In your own words, explain each in 2-3 sentences.          - Based on the given video, literature gives us additional time as it draws our emotions. It may seem to look like we are wasting our time reading these pieces but in reality, it saves our time because it helps us to encounter some events that will take so long for us to experience. It puts our minds full of imagination into reality.              It also helps us to achieve that acceptable character we all wanted. The good is always present in these writings and it makes us eager to be better.
